Our pure white Siberian Husky, named Daisy, was about a year old when I discovered a large cist on her neck (this was about 1982). We took her to the doctor and found that she had Mange (sic). After six months of treatment, the disease only got worse and one day at the veterinarian"s office, he informed us that Daisy"s immune system was probably defective and this was the reason she wasn"t fighting what is normally an easy to treat skin disorder. He suggested that we either take her to UC Davis for medical treatment, but that this treatment would cost a small fortune (we already spent one as it was) with no guarantees of success, or have her put out of her misery. My Mom opted for the more fiscally responsible choice. Daisy was put to sleep that morning.

That evening, me, my Mom, younger sister and much younger brother were sitting in the den watching television. The next room over was our kitchen which was shapped much like a "T". We kept the food for our four dogs at the bottom of the "T" of our kitchen, which this section was hidden by counters. However, the top portion of the "T" was open to view from the den where we were sitting. All of a sudden, we all coicidentally and without any real reason to, staired over into the kitchen when we all saw at the same moment, Daisy walking across the kitchen heading towards the dogs food dish. She was white and misty (you could see right through her) but she stood out almost as if she was real. She continued to walk towards the food dishes where we could no longer see her. We all got up quickly and ran over to the kitchen but there was nothing there.

We never really spoke about this incident until almost ten years later. The dog was not seen by my brother but was seen clearly by me, my Mom and my sister. I guess we were all too freaked out about it. No one in my family believed in ghosts until that time. My brother still does not but what the three of us saw was as real as the day before when Daisy actually would be seen walking across the kitchen to eat. Also, consider the fact that we were all watching television and all of us, without a noise to provoke it, staired over to the kitchen at he same time and saw the exact same thing.

I"ve heard similar stories from other pet owners. All I know is when my cat died of cancer last fall, I didn"t sleep in my house for a few days, just in case she came back and decided to crawl in bed with me, as she usually did when she was alive.
