When I was a reckless teenager, my friends and I had heard of a place called "The Devil's Stomping Ground". Folklore had it that this place was a perfect circle where no vegetation grew and it was alleged that the Devil himself walked around in circles devising his schemes to implement on mankind.

We had decided to find this place and to see for ourselves if it was for real or not. I have since forgotten the exact location of this place, but I remember that it was in North Carolina - where I lived at the time. My friends and I went searching for this place to prove that there was nothing to the rumors that we had heard. It was in a remote part of North Carolina. We had gotten lost several times. When we got near the location, we stopped to ask directions. We were met with skeptical and sometimes fearful looks and were told that that particular place was a place where no one should venture in to. The rumors we heard were that if one placed any object in the path of this "circle", it would be kicked aside by the Devil himself while he walked around and pondered his evil thoughts. We had heard that cars, bricks, rocks and any objects that were placed in this path - which, once again, was a perfect circle, would be cast aside.

We eventually found the location of the "Devil's Stomping Ground" in a remote part of North Carolina. The directions we finally got were due to stopping at many locations and receiving awe and fear from the many local inhabitants of this area. We finally found the place, and, sure enough, the "circle" looked like a round path where someone would walk. There was grass and vegetation on either side of this "path" but the "Path" itself was just barren dirt. We set up camp inside the "circle" and built a fire and roasted some hot dogs in the fire. We placed some twigs and branches on the "path" and eventually fell asleep. Around two to three in the morning, the fire, which had smoldered into embers -

We rarely discuss the event that had scared us so severely.
