Did You Hear That?

When I was in the fourth grade (now a sophomore in college) and my parents had just moved the entire family into a new house. It was summer time and we didn't have the air conditioning hooked up yet. This was a very hot summer. So of course I had the windows open. I woke up in the middle of the night and had to use the bathroom. 

As I did for some reason I turned on my light in the bedroom and then went to the bathroom. After I was done I went back to the bedroom turning the light on again, shut it off, then ran into bed. 

I was now wide awake. Letting sleep try to over come me I heard a lady say, "Hey, kids." She kind of sounded like she had lost something, like she was frantic. I thought to myself you are just hearing things. Then I heard it again. So I decided to go get my little brother from across the hall. 

I woke him up and asked him if he had heard the same as me. Seconds went by and I was beginning to believe that the lady's voice came from my imagination. Then she said it once more, "Hey, kids!" It almost seemed like she wanted us to come to the window. 

I told my little brother I was going to find out what or who was outside my bedroom window. He said no and grabbed my arm. So I yelled as loud as I could for dad and turned the light on once again. Dad came running in and said what's wrong. I told him and he went running out the back door with a flashlight and never saw a thing. 

Two days before all of this happened it had rained and we didn't have any grass planted yet. The next day dad went outside to see if he could see any foot prints around my window or around the house and never found a one. 

I wonder to this day what would of happened if I would of went to the window!
