A friend of mine and I headed out one Fourth of July around 11:00 PM to drink a little beer and let off a few fireworks. Since we weren't allowed to let the off in the city, we took off to the middle of nowhere. Some place he happened across. It was a field completely surrounded on all sides by trees. Great place (so it seemed) to go camping or something. Well, we got out of his car, kept the stereo on for a little background music, and started shooting off fireworks. We were there for a little over 30 minutes, straying farther and farther from the car, when we shot off something and heard someone laughing. Not maniacal or anything, but like they were really enjoying the show. We figured someone had come out there and was watching us. But the only light was from the moon, no campfires or flashlights. My friend yelled out to see who was there, but there wasn't any answer. We walked down toward the treeline from which the noise came, and couldn't find anyone. I asked my friend if we were losing our minds, trying to shrug off the noise, and then we heard the laugh again, this time right behind us. It scared me bad enough I took off in a dead run for the car. My friend was right on my heels. Then we heard a voice scream "NO!" and the air got really thick. I was overcome with a feeling of total anger and depression, like the entire night was upset with me. We made it back to the car, and the radio was off. We jumped in, and tried to start it, but no luck. We just sat there in the car with the doors locked scared to death. Finally my friend got out and popped the hood. The battery had been disconnected. I was scared to death, and so was the guy with me. He hooked the battery back up, jumped in the car, and started it up. Again the voice screamed "NO!" And one of his tires blew. He didn't care though, he kept driving and we got out of the field back on the gravel road. Once we reached the road it was like a total change in the air around us. I hurried up and threw on the spare, and we both rode all the way back into town in silence. Looking back I never really felt like I was in danger, just scared half to death. I never told anyone what happened, it didn't really make sense. I haven't experienced anything since then. If someone knows where I can look up the past on the area, or has an idea of what was going on, please email me. fyins@rocketmail.com
