The Friend's House

This story is my first personal experience, but not the last.
The first story is from my own experiences at my friends house. It isn"t very scary in writing, but to experience it firsthand is something else. My friend was always telling me that his house was haunted, but I never believed him because I didn"t believe in ghosts.
One night, we had a get together at his house, just the two of us. The rest of his family was on vacation. We watched television until about 1:30a.m. We had just gotten settled down in the den to go to sleep, when we heard the back door open and close. We thought it was his parents getting home early, so we were pretending to sleep so we didn"t have to hear about the vacation. Then, we heard footsteps. They started at the back door and went across the kitchen, stopping at the entry to the dining room, which is connected to the den by another entry. We knew that something was wrong because those footsteps didn"t belong to anybody that lived in that house. We both looked as the footsteps stopped at the diningroom, there was no one where there should have been. The footsteps then proceeded to walk into the den. At this point I was ready to walk the ten miles to my house in pajamas, but I also found that I couldn"t move. At the exact moment the footsteps entered the den, I turned as cold as an ice cube. That surprised me because I was in my winter sleeping bag that kept me warm in weather that was below zero. The footsteps stopped right next to me and for the next ten or fifteen seconds, it felt as if we were being watched. It"s a feeling I can"t explain, it has to be experienced to understand it. My friend"s dog also ran upstairs when the cold entered the room. He didn"t just casually get up and leave, he jumped up and bolted out of the room. The fotsteps then left the room and went upstairs, stopping in every room for a few seconds. Then they came back down and went into the basement, where they stopped for the rest of the night. We searched the basement the next day, but found nothing. My friend said it must have been the ghost just checking up on his house.
It wasn"t very scary, but you weren"t there.
