I have always had a strong belief in ghosts and the afterlife... along with other unexplainables. Whether this has something to do with the experiences I have had, I don't know, but, they are bizarre nonetheless.

The first experience was when I was about 8 or 9... we lived on a hobby farm, and had neighbors on one side. This particular family living there at the time, joked about a ghost in the house. It was never believed to be more than a scary story by my family, until, my sister and I walked over to the next door neighbors house to deliver an envelope. When we got closer to the house, we noticed that there were no cars there. Believing that no one was home, we decided to leave the envelope in the fly-screen door, but, upon approaching the door, we heard what sounded like someone doing the dishes. So, we knocked on the door, but there was no answer. We decided to go around to the kitchen window, where we saw the sink full of hot washing up water. It was then that the phone rang and it picked up, but no one spoke... and we knew for a fact that they didn't have an answering machine. At this point, panic took over and we ran full bolt home again, where we explained what happened, to my mum and dad. My dad returned to the house and observed the same thing. So, from then, I accepted that the ghost was there.

That family moved out and another two went through. There was a bit of abnormal activity, but, nothing too huge. Until, the current residents moved in. These people are great. I fed their cats for them when they went on holidays.

It was one of these times, when I walked over to feed the cats, and have a swim in their pool with my best friend. We were about 13 and playing swimming pool games when we were overcome by a foul smell, like a dead rabbit.

The fear of having to walk back into the house to clean up and lock up was immense, but, we both ran inside and one cleaned while the other watched out down the hallway for anything strange. Upon returning from their holiday, we found out that the lady had been awoken one night by a woman's voice carrying down the hallway, saying "john, is that you john ?"... it was after hearing our story that they had the house exorcised. No such occurrences have happened since.
