Glowing Green Ball

When I was about 9 years old my sister and I shared our bedroom. 

One night I awoke in the middle of the night and noticed a glowing green ball about the size of a tennis ball on the side of my sisters bed. My sister was asleep but I knew this was to strange not to wake her so I asked her "What is that on the foot of your bed?" I thought it might be or "I hoped" it might be a sticker, the type that glow in the dark, but when she got up to look it JUMPED onto the blanket that she had wrapped around her. 

Naturally she screamed and dropped the blanket and jumped onto my bed. We were so scared but neither of us thought of waking our parents because we thought we might get in trouble for being up. We solved our problem by sleeping with our nightlight on. We had noticed that when we had turned the light on to see what it was the green light would disappear but when we turned the light off it would appear again. 

Until this day we still do not know what it was.
