I really like your site and have been reading the stories for the past couple of nights and thought you might like to hear about my experience.
I was about 14 and I stayed with my granny a lot because I was really close to her. She lives in northern Florida in a wood frame house on blocks that after so many years was really in need of being re-leveled. You could feel a dog walk through because of the shaking. My granny had went to bed in the back bedroom and I had stayed up watching TV and talking on the phone. It was summertime so she had a sheet hang over the door between the living room and kitchen that divided the front from the back of the house to keep the air from the air conditioner in the front of the house.
Well I was talking on the phone a while later and heard her get out of bed go past the bathroom into the kitchen and walk to the sink and stop. I not only heard her I felt her walking. I couldn't see her because of the sheet. So I called to her. She didn't answer me so I called her again. Still no answer. So I told the person I was talking to to hold on. I pulled the sheet back walked across the kitchen and turned on the light. She wasn't there. I freaked out because I would have heard her walk back to bed. So I went to her bedroom and there she was in bed. I woke her up and asked her if she had got up and went to the kitchen and she told me no. Why? I told her what happened and she calmly told me it was just my grandpa and he was only looking out for us. That did it!! I ran through the house told the person I was talking to that I had to go. Ran back through the house turning off lights as I went and jumped in bed with her. She said there was nothing to be afraid of she always heard my grandpa. Easy for her to say.
See my grandpa died in that house about 6 months before I was born. He was sitting in his recliner watching wrestling and had a heart attack and died right there. You always felt like somebody was watching you. And before this happened I thought it was just the usual kids being afraid of the dark. My boyfriend would not go in that house alone at night if somebody wasn't there. And years later we had to put my granny in a nursing home and I believe when she left so did he. My mother lives there now and I'm not the least bit scared.
I hope it wasn't to long winded and you enjoyed it.
