I have read several stories here about rail road tracks, and how if you put your car in neutral the car will slightly roll up hill. Well there is a place like that here in Massachusetts called Gravity hill.
I have herd many stories as to why the car will roll up hill when put in neutral. Some say that it has to do with magnetic deposits inside the ground. Some say it is an optical illusion, and that you don't actually move. And then some say it is a ghost.
I have been able to rule out the fact it could be a optical illusion, as I have been there myself. And in fact the car does roll up hill (granted it's a small hill, but none the less still a hill). The car will roll a good 10-15 feet too.
Now being the skeptic that I am I have summed up the occurrence to magnetic deposits, but my friends think differently....
My friend "R" was there one night with her ex boyfriend (they're where in the middle of trying to work things out so they could at least be friends). Well they went to gravity hill that night put the car in neutral. The car rolled like it always does. When the car stopped rolling they put the car in park and proceeded to talk.
It was late September when they where out there and it was starting to get late. They went to go start the car, but it wouldn't start. "R" started to get freaked out cause the area looks kind of creepy at night, and since there are fields on either side of the road, a lot of fog had built up.
Well "R's" ex tried to start the car several more times to no success. He then decided to turn on the head lights and check under the hood of the car to find the problem. As soon as he turned on the head lights they both saw a dark shadowy figure run through the fog past the car. Then as if by magic the car started again and my friend and her ex got the hell out of there.
To this day "R" is still not sure who or what was out there that night. We have gone back to gravity hill several times at night and have never seen a thing. We have even tried putting flower on the bumper of the car to see if ghostly handprints appear, but due to our luck it started to rain and I ended up with pasty flower on the back of my car for 2 days.
I am still curious though....what is the deal with gravity hill?
