This is true ghost story (a single encounter.) One night about three and a half years ago, a couple of friends and I decided to take a car ride in the valley in an attempt to ward off the the boredom of another summer night. In order too really appreciate this story you have to have a know a little bit of background about the intersection of Borderland Road and Westside Drive. For as long as I can remember this intersection has been the scene of numerous car accidents as a result of it only being a two way stop and people blowing through the stop sign as if it were only a suggestion.

As I was driving south bound on Westside Drive with my two friends i could see up ahead in the distance the new flashing warning lights the city had put up as a result of the last deadly accident that occurred perhaps four months earlier in which a car load of teenagers were killed when a truck ran the stop sign and struck them. As we approached the intersection the thoughts of all of those accidents wrecks kept racing though my mind but I didn't say anything to my companions about it. As we came to a stop at the intersection out of the corner of my eye I could see the figure of a man for only a fraction of a second next standing next to a telephone pole. At the same time both of my friends said "did you see that?", I decided to play stupid and asked them what they saw. They both saw the the same thing I did. It was really errie and a chill ran down my back. As I started to pull away from the stop sign I tried to resist the urge of looking into the rearview mirror, but when I did I saw the same figure standing next to the telephone pole staring in my direction.

Lets just say i stepped on the gas pedal a little harder than I normally do. Since then I have had to travel that same road and intersection a couple of times, but I haven't seen anything strange like I witnessed that night.
