I Really Believe Now!

I was always curious about "the other side" altho I only heard stories from friends and such. I believe anything is possible. This one experience is what REALLY made me believe that they do exsist.

About a year ago, one of my closest friends grandfather passed away in the house he lived in. He died of cancer on a hospital bed in the living room. My friend Jan lived there with her grandmother and grandfather at that time. I never met him myself (we lost touch for quite a long time). After he passed away, she kept telling me weird things that would go on. (keep in mind, she is NOT the type who would lie).

One night she said that she was awake in bed and she heard his cane he would use to walk with, tapping on the floor, then she could hear the light switch flip on in the kitchen. (the light switch made a very loud "smack" noise when it flipped on). She would turn her head to see if the light was on in the kitchen, and it was completely dark. Her grandma made a comment about the tapping of the cane the next morning, and Jan told her she had heard it too. Another thing was that they had one of those really old phones with the dial hanging on the wall, but it was either disconnected after her grandfather passed away, or it hadnt worked for a long time (I dont remember the specific reason, but it did not work). Jan said that the phone would ring sometimes, and when she would answer it, it was either silence on the other end, or a dial tone. On one occasion when I was there, the disconnected phone DID RING!. That was one of the first experiences I had there. She also had weird things (dreams?) that happened when she was asleep.. One time she said she woke up and looked to her doorway and saw a figure standing there. She said the figure had the shape of her grandpa, then his shape would change to her dad, then her brother and so on. Another time she woke up with a chair sitting next to her bed, when the chair usually sat on the other side of her room. Then there was times when Jan would leave at night to come to my house. Her grandma told her to make sure that the door was locked, and she would.. but mysteriously, the next morning when Jan would return, her grandma would yell at her because she left the door unlocked. I even saw her on numerious occasions lock the door.. and the next morning, I would follow her back, and the door was unlocked with her grandma still in bed.

With all that in mind, I was kinda leary about going over there. But Jan told me if it was her grandfathers ghost, then he wouldnt hurt me because he was a very kind man.

Then a few months later, her grandma ended up moving in with Jan's parents so they could take care of her.

Jan stayed at her grandmothers house for months after that bfore they sold the house. But in those few months, weird things kept happening. Weird things that I saw myself.

One night I drove over to visit her, when I pulled in the driveway, I could see thru the garage windows that her dome light was on in her car. So when Jan opened the front door to let me in, I told her. She said she hadnt even turned the thing on. (but it did come on automatically when you open the door anyway). She shrugged it off, and opened the garage door with the door opener inside the house. I ran out there, unlocked her car, and flipped the switch to turn it off. I ran back in and watched Jan push the button to close the door. We were talking at the time, but both of use saw the door close. About maybe 5 min later we glanced at the garage while conversating, and the darn door was open! So she pushed the button again, and we watched it close all the way to make sure. Well I'll be damned if not even 15 min later, the door was open again!! At this point we thought it was rather amusing. She pushed the button, and this time it stayed closed. I left shortly after.

Jan worked Saturdays, and in the mornings she would let me come over and do my laundry, and hers too. I had a key to the house, but I would never stay long, just long enough to put a load in, and switch it when it was done. (I was too nervous to stay, lol). Jan and I were moving into our own apartment at the time, so her part of the house she was staying in was pretty much empty except for a few pieces of furniture.

So one of the days I came over to do laundry, I put the load in, and walked to her bedroom doorway (which was right off the living room) to see how much furniture she had left in there. The whole room is covered in a row of windows, so it was very light in there. Then I went back to the living room to watch tv until the load got done in the washer. I grabbed the remote from the tv, turned around to walk to the chair, and the tv came on all by itself!. I didnt really freak out, but I checked the remote to see if I accidently pushed one of the buttons, but I grabbed it by the bottom where there wasnt any buttons! I remained calm, I really didnt wanna freak out and make the "ghost" do anything to really scare me, like they usually do in movies. I sat there for a few minutes talking myself to staying calm. When you sit in the chair in the living room, Jan's bedroom is in front of you, to the left. Inside the door was one of her dressers that had a mirror on it. And for some stupid reason I was freaking myself out thinkin I would see a face in it or something. Well, the load got done in the washer, so I went to switch it over. When I got back to the living room, I sat down for a few seconds, glanced back in the bedroom, AND THE LIGHT WAS ON!!. I KNOW I didnt turn it on because the room was filled with windows and had plenty of light in it anyway.

My heart started beating outta my chest! I freaked out so bad but I didnt want to react on it and let the "ghost" know I was scared. (I remember somewhere reading to remain calm when you have an encounter).

I calmly got up, walked to the bedroom, shut off the light, and left as quickly but non-chalonly as I could. And I didnt go back until I knew Jan was home! Needless to say, I never went back by myself on saturdays to do my laundry.

All the times that would cross my mind about actually seeing a ghost or having an encounter, would always make me wonder how I would react. This encounter (at first) didnt scare me as bad as I thought it would. Maybe I was in denial when the tv turned on. Or maybe it was because if any ghost would be there, it had to of been her grandfather, and Jan had told me he was a peacefull man. Never the less, It DID frightenen me in the end. And some weird things has happened after that. I will tell you the story about that next. Its called "The Apartment"
