My Experiences
From: Story type: Ghost Location: Frankfort, Kentucky Source: Form Submission
I, myself, have never really 'seen' a ghost before. But there sure has been plenty of things happen in my life to make me a believer. My first memory of any paranormal experience was when I was probably 4 or 5 (late 70's). It was probably summer because my whole family was in my mom and dad's bedroom because this was where the air conditioner was located (window unit). I remember we were all watching TV sitting on the bed and floor or where ever we could find a place. The dresser mirror was cattycornered from the bed and directly in front of the door way on the far wall. I remember looking at my mom looking at something in the mirror. Later she told us that her aunt and uncle (who had been dead for years) were watching us from the door way.
The second experience that I remember was when we were living in my mom's uncles house while we were having a new house built. (This was not the same uncle she saw in the mirror, but this uncle, uncle Bo as we called him, was also dead) While living in this house my sister, brother and I all heard and felt quite a few things. Now this house was also the home to my great uncle who was mentally handicapped (I'm not sure of his name). He died there in that house. He lived there with his parents. Well my mother told me that back years ago people were ashamed of their retarded children and they used to put him in the basement when company would come over. I always felt very uneasy in the basement. I was especially scared of this one room which was referred to as the coal room because thats where they stored the coal for the furnance.
Anyway I would never go anywhere near that room, EVER! I don't know if they actually put him in that room or not, but I knew I was not wanted around the room. The noises we heard were of footsteps coming up the steps turning down the hall, through the dining room, into the kitchen then they would stop. The footsteps would drag so we were never sure if it was my uncle Bo or the uncle that died there. My uncle Bo had been seriously burned in a fire so he kind of dragged his foot when he walked. So we figured it was probably him. Another experience I had in this house was one morning I was waking up, but I couldnt wake up. Everything was really blurry and white. I felt like something or some one was floating above me but I couldn't focus enough to tell if there was really something there. Then out of nowhere I felt like I was being literally sucked back into reality. I have never had another experience like that. My aunt also had an experience in that house. She said a breeze swept through the dining room and then the room smelled of roses. There were no windows open nor were there any roses in or outside of the house.
Something else experienced by my family is seen by the children, including my daughter. They always see the same man outside my parents house at family gatherings. The last time he was seen was in June of 2000 at my baby shower. The way the describe this man is my granddaddy to the T. He died in 1989. The oldest child was only 3 or 4 when he died, she doesnt see him anymore, it's usually just the younger ones that see him.
Now, I believe I have a ghost in my house, friendly (I hope). My daughter, who is 5, out of no where was scared to death of her favorite doll that my sister in law made for her. She said it smiled at her. So in the closet the doll went. I had this sketch of my daughter hanging on her door. She cried and cried one night for me to take it down because it watched her. Another thing that happened was the light bulb burned out in her room, well it was morning so I decided to change it when I got home from work. Later, after I had come home I had forgotten all about it, that night when I flipped it on, out of habit, it came on and shined brighter than I have ever seen a light bulb shine. It was like that for about two weeks and then it went out again never to come back on. Then just this last Christmas we were sitting in the living room watching TV and the little train that I have running around the Christmas tree just started going around the track by itself. This is a train that you must push a button to turn on and no one touched it. My son, who is now 6 months old, will be sometimes facing the opposite direction in the morning after a full night of sleep which isn't unusual but his covers will be laid across him as if he never moved which I find really strange.
Last but not least, my husband and I were fighting one night and it was very late. He finally just laid down on the couch and he said he was saying to himself, 'I wish you would just take me so this would all end. And a voice came inside his head and said 'hang in there, it'll be ok.' He swears it wasnt him thinking to himself and I believe him because right before he told me about it (immediately afterwards) I felt a peace within me, but I heard no voices. He thinks it was either his Dad or his Papaw. His Dad has been dead for 23 years and his Papaw for about 10. So maybe it's one of them that is living with us now?
Thanks for listening.
