I should start by saying that I do not believe in ghosts nor do I think this is an actual ghost story I just don't have any explanation for what happened. I should also give you some history my parents bought a house on the north side of Chicago. The history of the area is years prior the area was all brick yards. when they had the land surveyed to find where the property line was they found out that there was no date on the house the city's records showed the date as unknown.
About 5 years after they bought the house they decided to put in a patio in the backyard when the workers were digging in the area were the patio was suppose to go they found large quantities of bricks they also found the remains of a dog (just bones) that was buried there.
My parents started asking around about who had used to live there we had found out that an elderly women had lived there until she died, and she also had a dog by the way. So we thought nothing really strange about that dog died must have been buried in the back yard. But my sister and I always felt strange being in this house especially when we were older and were home alone. On one night in particular when my parents were out my sister and I were in the front room and we had heard lots of noises coming from upstairs we were so freaked out by this we ran outside and waited out there till my parents got home. when my parents got home we told them what happened my father had said it was an old house and old houses make noises some times. Now at the time I am thinking yeah right ok whatever you say.
Well several years later when I was in High school when I got out of school I was the first one to get home so it was my responsibility to let the dog out. So when I got home I went in the kitchen let the dog out in the backyard, and had decided to do some laundry.
I had went in to the basement to start a load when I was underneath the kitchen floor in the basement I heard a dog walking upstairs. I listened for a couple minutes and heard the dog go from one end of the kitchen to the other and then it stopped. I figured that I must not have shut the door all the way. So when I got back upstairs to my surprise the dog was not in the house I walked to the back door sure enough he was still in the back yard, and the door was still shut.
Now let me start by saying the back door was a solid wooden door and it was very heavy. So I
don't know exactly what happened that day, but part of me really doesn't want too.
