This is an experience that happened 20 years ago (or more) to both my sister and I, but at separate times. We live in a small town, and large rural outlying areas.

The road we lived on had streetlights that only went half way up. The rest of the road was pitch black. Although, I normally did not walk home (my mom picked me up), this night the car was being used so I had to walk. It was around 8pm, late fall and very dark. Where the street lights end, the road starts curving and their is a large, old quarry that rises to the right. I got about 3/4 of the way to my house, and I could see the outside light from where I stopped. I didn't choose to stop, but my intuition told me to stop. I might as well have hit a wall. I could not physically walk forward. Pitch black was in front of me, and the quarry to the right still. At this point I was in a panic, and as much as I did not want to turn around, I did. I went back to my great-grandma's and she called my Dad and told him to meet me. Thankfully, my Dad did without asking any questions. This time, I passed the same spot I stopped at and got home safe.

My sister's experience happened about two years after mine. Her's was the same thing, no-one available to pick her up so she started walking. Dee got to the same point, and hit the same invisible wall I did. Instead of listening to her intuition, she argued with it and kept trying to go forward. Suddenly, she started hearing footsteps coming through the brush down from the quarry. Now, she started to run the opposite direction as fast as she could. When she got to the point where the streetlights ended, she looked back and could see someone (or something) following her very fast. It seemed every time she looked back, it was moving closer and closer. She got back to our great-grandma's and told our cousins what happened to her. At first they didn't believe her, but they looked out grandma's front windows and there was man (?) sitting on the Edgewood sign looking directly up at them. Now, our cousin's were freaking.

Our uncle was picking up the cousin's so Dee asked if she could get a ride. They put Dee in the back seat with them and pushed her head down so it wouldn't look like she was there. As they turned the corner where the man was, he was trying to see into the car.

What is truly odd, weird, scary...whatever, is that my sister and I didn't realize this happened to both of us until last year. We started talking about supernatural stuff and she thought I was repeating her story. When I told her no, that it had happened to me, she freaked out. That's when we compared stories.

The woman in my family are deeply superstitious. We have very strong psychic links between us, and we often can tell when one needs us.

I have many other stories that I can pass on, mostly ones that have happened to my mom or her family, but I will save those for further entries.

Thanks for letting me share.
