Rolling Marble
From: Luke Garza (lukegarza@loop.com) Story type: Ghost Location: Missouri City, Texas Source: Form Submission
The following story was told to me by my friend Rachel back in our days at the University of Texas together. She claims to have known a girl in high school whose family moved into a haunted house in the suburb of Houston known as Missouri City. I have written a fictionalized account of the story and have entitled it "A Place Called Four Doves." But here is a sampling of the true story:
Not long after moving in, the family began to experience
unexplained noises and occurrences. For example, while the
family was downstairs, they would hear the sound of
furniture being shifted around on the top floor. On more
than one occasion, family members would assume that one of
the missing parents or siblings was upstairs making the
noise, only to see that family member walk in through the
front door moments later, unaware of what the others had
just heard. One night, the wife awoke to a noise which she
described as several hundred hammers hitting on wood all at
once. When she went downstairs to investigate, she
discovered that every one of the downstairs windows had been
simultaneously opened. The family would receive strange
crackling phone calls as well. After the father had finally
enough and the family was sufficiently spooked, they decided
to move. The last night they stayed in the house, they all
slept in the same room. As they tried to sleep, they heard
the sound of something rolling across the perfectly level floor.
When someone turned on the light, the family found a child's
marble, which didn't belong to any of them. They turned off
the light, and again, they would hear the marble roll across
the floor. Creepy, huh?
