A few years ago my parents decided that we would redecorate our 19th century home. We proceeded to strip walls and knock through certain areas. When my Dad had stripped one of the walls in out lounge we saw the outline of a door that was obviously an original. As we investigated further we realized that the old door frame overlapped the foot of the stairs in the hall. We had also put a very large hallstand right at the bottom of the stairs which also covered the old doorway.
One day we went out and when my parents returned they found that the hallstand had been moved away from the foot of the stairs. That thing is far to heavy for my sister or brother to move and so we are still confused to this day about what happened.
Another incident that will stick in my mind is a story that my parents told me. One night around midnight my mother woke up with a start and realized a figure standing over her bed, she wasn't scared though as she felt at ease. My Mum actually thought that she was dreaming and so forgot abut it for a few weeks then one night they were out with friends and had had a few drinks in them when my Dad started to speak about a figure that woke him up in the night!! Mum realized that she wasn't dreaming that night and that we had been visited by a ghost.
There is also another story about my younger brother who usually exaggerates anyway, but this
time I believe he was serious. He was lying in his bed one night and had the cat near to his
body, he also had his hand on the cats stomach. When all of a sudden the cat became rigid and
he opened his eyes. All he felt was a thump on his bed and a figure about a foot tall running
through his door. He shot down the stairs like a bat out of hell and wouldn't go to sleep until
he knew that the whole family was in the house.
