She Tried to Annoy Us

When I was nearly 18 I fell in love. My boyfriend ( at the time) and I rented an efficiency apartment . When we met with the landlord to sign the lease and get the keys. He told us that we were lucky his mother wasn't still in charge of renting the apartments . Because she would have never rented one of them to a couple of 18 yr olds. We took the second floor apartment . Our landlords parents lived on the first floor. Lucy ( landlords mother) was very sick with cancer and wasn't expected to live much longer. 

For 6 months life was normal . We went to work. But being typical teens we had parties on the weekends. With lots of people and loud music. I'm fairly sure that the landlords father didn't hear any of it , he was quite deaf. But , even as sick as she was , I'm sure Lucy heard all of it . Lucy lost her battle with cancer shortly after we had been living there for 6 months . And soon after the weird happenings began . 

Every morning at 4 AM ( without fail) I would wake because it sounded like someone dumped a bucket of pennies all over the bathroom floor. This made me angry because I had to get up at 6 AM to go to work. But , I wasn't sure what was happening . So I didn't know what to do about it. 

Then one night in early summer the strangest thing happened. My boyfriend was on the balcony with a friend . I was on the phone with my sister . All of a sudden I heard the toilet seat being slammed down very hard.( Knowing my boyfriend and i had this standing joke about my complaining cause he always left the seat up. So , he let it drop just enough so that I heard him put it down ) And the screen-door to the balcony slammed shut. I got up and went outside . I asked him why he let the toilet seat drop so hard and why did he slam the door. He said he thought it was me . We went back and forth for 20 minutes swearing to each other that neither of us had done it . 

After that we talked about the strange things that had been happening . We came to the conclusion that none of these were scary or dangerous, just real annoying. And since we knew Lucy wouldn't have rented to us . And we both believed in ghosts. We were pretty sure Lucy was at work annoying us into moving. So , I got up from the balcony , walked to the middle of living/bedroom and in no uncertain terms told Lucy we weren't leaving so she could stop trying to annoy us . Cause we were going to ignore her from now on. That maybe she should go on to a place where she can rest. 

After that we lived there for a year without further incident. So . there you have it that's one of my experiences. i will write about the others at a later date. This isn't as scary as some of the others I have read. But , it was like I said wayyyyyy annoying .
