Strange Feeling

I would imagine this story to be that of angels, even if unseen. I have no other explanation for the occurrance and have never had a similar experience since.

In 1982, my wife and I were stationed at Andrews AFB in MD and living off base in a rented townhouse in Waldorf. We had lived there for about a year, when one Tuesday night while sleeping, I suddenly woke up with a very strange feeling. I kept thinking about if we would be able to hear the back door to the townhouse open downstairs if someone were to try to break in. I got out of bed and went downstairs thru the utility room door to the back door. After checking to make sure the door was locked, I took our grill and positioned it by the door, figuring if someone did try to open it, we would hear the grill fall over.

That Friday, we got home that evening to find our neighbors having a party and our parking spaces being used. We parked across the street in one of the visitor spaces and went into the house. We were both very tired that night, so we turned in about 8:00 PM. For some reason, about midnight I woke up and could'nt go back to sleep. I decided to go watch TV downstairs in the living room. While sitting in the dark with only the TV for light, I suddenly heard the back door slam against the grill. Even though I was in the military, I wasn't feeling like John Wayne. In fact, it was all I could do to walk over to the dining room window to turn on the back light and look thru the window at the back door which was sitting ajar about six inches. Grabbing a kitchen knife, I opened the utility room door to see the back door leaning open and the grill pushed back from where I had set it.

The police came and saw pry marks by the doorknob where someone had forced entry. They suggested deadbolt locks which I installed the next day.

This may have been an example of a lucky coincidence, but I believe that some divine intervention occurred.
