"The Tracks"
From: () Story type: Ghost Location: San Antonio, Tx, U.S.A. Source: Form Submission
I don't know all of the facts, in actuality, this story was told to me by friends. These friends who learned of this story by other friends. In fact, if you were to visit San Antonio, and you were to ask anyone who has lived here for a couple of years, they would be able to tell you about the "tracks".
It can be said that this story is an old San Antonion tradition: handing down ghost stories of the old city to the newer generation.
The story begins with a bus-full of small children riding on their way (to school or from school). The exact direction is unknown to me. Anyways, the small children are about three or four years old, not old enough to be in the second or perhaps the first grade. While traveling down a back road, the bus happens to stall and stop on the road. In fact the bus had stopped directly on top of a set of old rail road tracks.
Although most tracks that intersect with main roads have the usual flashing light signals, etc.., this part of the road didn't. So when the train approached the bus of small children, the bus driver was not prepared. Try-ing to start the bus, the driver couldn't. It is sometimes said that he even tried to unload the children from the bus, to lead them to safety....but there wasn't time. The train collided with the bus and the children died on that day.
If this was just the main portion of the account, then it would just seem like a sad account of a sorrowful event. But there was more to the story.
After the death of the small children, it was said that if anyone was to park on the railroad tracks that they would be able to feel the prescense of the small children. Many people would go and park their cars on the railroad tracks, leaving their cars in nuetral. Then slowly they would be able to feel their car being pushed off of the tracks. Since the road is up hill, many more people began to believe that the souls of the children remained in the site of their tragic death. Their new purpose being to save others who might meet the same fate as they did by being stuck on the tracks. It is supposably their desire to save us from the danger that killed them.
It has also been said that by placing baby powder (no relevance to their age) or some other white powder or substance, will leave an impresion of the small children's hands. The hand prints of the dead children trying to save every motorist who is stuck on the tracks. By placing baby powder on the truck of you car, when the children push your car, their handprints will remain as proof of their existence.
Although, I have never placed baby powder on my car's truck to see the prints, I have visited the site, and have had my car moved. Whether it is the children, I am undecided how to feel. I would rather they had gone to Heaven, but am glad that there are some souls trying to save us. Perhaps the only way to decide is to experience the experience.
special note: there is another thing that helps to prove that this story might of happened. the surrounding street names by the railroad
tracks, had been renamed into one name streets. Such examples as Caroline, etc...some say it is memory of the deceased children. So
they won't be forgotten.
