My friend and I had planned a weekend getaway in a ski resort area Northeast of San Diego. The last part of the trip consisted of about 30 miles of long, windy mountain curves. Not leaving as early as we had planned, this part of the trip was made at night. The conditions of the roads were unsettling, and, to be quite honest, I was a little scared.

To make me feel more at ease, my friend began to drive slower. Trying to calm myself down, I searched for a CD to put on. I looked at my friend to get his approval, and noticed a puzzled look on his face. I looked around outside and noticed a cars headlights right behind us that hadn't been there before. "Okay, this is freaky", he said, "those headlights came out of nowhere!" That's when I lost it and told him to speed up. He likes to drive fast anyway, so, this to him was an answered prayer!!

As we began to go faster, so did the car behind us. Before I knew it, we were taking hairpin turns at 80!! This guy would not get off our ass! Then, out of nowhere, the car passed us like we were standing still. And before we knew it, he was gone.

At this point, we slowed down due to a sharp curve up ahead. We rounded the curve and noticed a 30's style car wrapped around a tree. "Thats him, that's the guy that was following us!!" he said. We drove by slowly to see if the driver was alive and saw no one in the car! So, we proceeded on to the gas station up the road to phone the police.

The police told us to stay there and that they would be by after they checked out the accident to get our statements. A short while later, the police showed up at the gas station and asked us where exactly we saw the accident. We told them where and they insisted that there was no sign of an accident for at least 20 miles. They told us to keep moving and to get where we were going before we caused anymore trouble.

My friend and I were confused to say the least, but did as the officers said. We reached our cabin about a half an hour later. I brought my luggage upstairs and began putting my clothes in the drawers, still upset at the incident that had just happened. I opened the top drawer and saw an old news paper clipping from 1935. The headline read: "Four teenagers killed in a crash while racing"

The picture below these words was of the same car, the same spot, and the same tree where the accident had taken place not more than an hour ago.

I ran to the office and asked the old man at the desk if he knew anything about it and he said every night, the four teenagers killed in the accident try to make it around that curve. ALIVE. They will never be able to escape their fate.

Needless to say, we did not return to Big Bear for quite a while.....
