I moved into this house in April 1991. It was a cool house; two stories, with a full basement and attic. The house is well over 100 years old, built out of while oak, and near the community cemetery.

The first time I walked into the house, I felt kind of strange, like I was being watched, or "someone" knew I was there. I've had several experiences in this house. Before our actual moving day, my dad and I came to the house for a week (we were living out-of-state) to work on some of the rooms. Like I said, it's an old house, and it needed some repairs before we moved in. I decided I was going to paint the room that was to be my bedroom. Dad had gone visiting, and I was painting the bedroom on the second floor, (By the way, my bedroom door was next to the attic door. Isn't that spooky?) when I heard footsteps-slow, deliberate, distinct footsteps in the hall. I had the door closed, so I thought maybe Dad had come back. I called out to him. The footsteps stopped near the door. I called out again, and opened the door. All I heard was deafening silence. It was pronounced. And I had that uneasy feeling of being watched. I walked downstairs, and checked the outside doors. Locked. Go figure. The second experience was after we'd moved in. It was with a glowing white light, floor level, like an animal. One night, I had just laid down, and noticed a light coming toward my open door. I sat up in bed as the "thing" walked through the open door, and to the foot of the bed. When I looked, nothing was there, like it had gone under the bed. That started a new host of events in the house. I then started experiencing what seemed like a pet, maybe a pet dog, jumping onto my bed while I was resting. I had 2 cats at the time, and they weren't doing it. In fact, there were times they'd be with me in the bed when this would happen. I would feel the mattress give, and then the sheet covering me would be weighted down (with what?) and touch the fitted sheet on the bed between my ankles. My cats started playing with "something". They'd romp, jump, bat, and play like someone was there, and there wasn't.

See if this episode doesn't give you goose bumps. My 2 cousins, a friend, and I had gone out for the evening. When we returned to the house, I'd forgotten to leave the porch light on, and had to search to unlock the door. While having the key in motion, we ALL heard a dog bark inside the house. As I said, I had 2 cats, no dogs.

We moved in November. The following June, I got married, and my husband and I to the same small community, next door to the big gray house. Now keep in mind, this house was newer (although not new), and NEXT TO THE CEMETERY. Cemeteries make good neighbors. They're quiet, and don't bother you often.

Anyway, during our 2 years living in the small house, not much happened in way of paranormal activity, EXCEPT for the shadows that passed by the dining room windows--outside. It looked like "they" were coming to the back door. Several times, my husband and I would get up from our chair to see if we had gotten company. And a close friend of ours experienced it, too. He saw the shadows, thought we were receiving more company, and got up to leave. When we all walked outside, there wasn't anyone around but us.

How weird.
