My mother, step dad and sisters once lived in a small house in the town stated above. The town has three hundred people and was once a railroad stop during the late 1800's. The town is in the mountains of Southern New Mexico.

This little house was once a small one room house, additions were added to make a 2 bedroom house. The fireplace was filled in and a wood stove was added. You can still see the outline of the old fireplace. I never lived in the house, but I visited there one summer when my mom, step dad, and sister's lived there. I often called to say hi, the normal long distance calls to families...

There was one particular call that I had made that stands out. I was talking to my little sister as she was cooking something on the stove. She had stepped away for just a second to grab something off the other counter( or out of the fridge, I couldn't tell) when this happened. There were some ceramic salt and pepper shakers on the back of the stove sitting on a ledge. Then all of a sudden, the shakers were lifted off the ledge and slammed onto the stove. This should have shattered them, but they didn't have a scratch or a chip. My little sister was scared and yelled for my other sister, who was sitting on the couch.

Now, the kitchen/dining room and the living room are separated by a 2 1/2 - 3 ft high brick wall, with the wood stove in the corner of the kitchen next to the brick wall. The bedrooms are on the opposite side of the house. My sister's bedroom is by the livig room, and my parents is by the kitchen. The bathroom is at the end of the hall whih is in between the bedrooms. The bathroom has a folding door because the owner's dad, who used to own and live in the house, had walked with a cane. There is a wood room in back of the kitchen and a laundry room behind my parent's room. There is a front entry room in front of the living room.

Pepto Bismol was always disappearing and mom would blame my little sister, until she found out that the owner's dad, who is now passed, had problems with heart burn.

There were times when my parents would have the wood stove literally red with heat, and the room was so cold you could see your breath. It only happened a few times.

There would be plenty of times, my mom would hear old music from like the 1940's. One time, my mom woke up and saw someone standing by her bed, pulling up his pants. She thought it was her husband, so she asked "What are you doing up?" She turned over, and to her horror, my step dad was sleeping soundly. She looked back over, and the man was gone.

There were a few times, when I was visiting, that things happened. I would sleep on the floor of my sister's room. One night I woke up to my twin sister whispering my name. I looked over at her and she was as pale as you can get. She said that someone had walked over to her bed and sat on the edge of it.

A couple nights later, my same sister had asked me to get into her bed because she had woken up with some strange feeling that she was being watched. She had just so happened to look over at the window ( which faced the driveway ) and noticed someone sitting in the passenger side of my mom's car.

My mom had told me of times when she had woken up to the sound of my twin screaming at the top of her lungs, "MOM!!!" She would tell mom that someone had been standing by, sometimes sitting on, her bed.

They had also told me of one night, when my parents had gone into town, my sisters were in their room doing something, when they heard a car pull up to the front of the house, where they couldn't see, turned the car off and walked up the path to the house. The next thing they heard was the front door opening, shutting, and someone sitting on the sofa. My sisters thought it was our uncle, who had been living with them at the time. They went into the living room and no one was there.

About 4 months before my family moved out of the house, my mom went to talk to the owners and tell them what is going on. The owner's believed my mom and said it sounded like their late father. He had chronic heart burn and drank lot's of pepto Bismol. He also had a problem with his pants always falling and he loved to listen to music from the 1940's. So, we all knew who the ghost was. He never harmed anyone. He seemed to be attracted to my twin. Maybe he watched over them as they lived there.

There are more, but I think I have written enough for now. If you would like to know more, or have any questions, feel free to write me at blueberryluv@webtv.net
