When I was about 3 my mother would pack us up every other weekend and we would drive from Maryland to Pennsylvainia to see my Grandparents. They lived in the middle of nowhere with very few neighbors. Down the road was an old lady that lived there in a big old house, she was an old friend of the familys. She had lived in the house for years, even before my Grandparents had moved into the area. The house was her late husbands who had been the local undertaker. Across the road from the house was an old shed which was used for a garage for the hurse. The house and the shed are still there, the shed has long since collapsed, but you can still see the remains in the overgrowth. The house has new people living in it and is undergowing renovation, for as long as I can remember it has been a run down place the lady was never able to take care of it because she was so old and had never had any children. She also had no family I guess after her husband died to help her take care of it.
I never found out why exactly they never had children, because she really loved them. My Grandmother would go vist her and take me too she adored me. She had an old piano in her living room that she played, she used to play for the church up the road when she was younger. Beside this piano she had a life size doll, now I was about three so this doll was bigger than me, it was about the size of a 5 year old, I loved the thing I would always play with it when I would go to her house. My Grandmother has told me that because the woman did not have kids she treated this doll like a real child. She washed its hair, had dresses made for it and even named it Donna Sue. When she died a few years later, because I was the only young little girl in the area who ever came to see her she left the doll to me.
I have had the thing ever since, but when I was about 14 I was sleeping on a
cot in the guest room, and the doll was kept in a far corner, I woke up and The
doll was standing right beside the bed, She blinked her eyes and started
talking to me, This is no lie. I got really scared and said something like "Go
Away" and the damn thing turned around and walked back to the corner. I started
screaming and woke my Grandma up and told her what had happened,I made her take
it out of the room. Ever since which has been about 7 years, The doll has sat
in my Grandparents basment out of sight and I still wont go near it.
