Watchful Eye

A friend of mine named Dave claims that his house is haunted. I haven't had a chance to experience this my self, but several people that I have talked to about it have stated that the house is definitely haunted. Now these people, while college students and not adverse to drinking binges, are nonetheless reliable, intelligent, and do not get spooked easily. On of the people I'll talk about is Dave's old girlfriend that just finished up an internship at IBM.
The first time I heard of Dave's house being haunted was at a party at Dave's apartment near the college he attends. We were all talking about ghosts and witches and other paranormal oddities when Dave said that his house in Houston is haunted. He said that his house is inhabited by the ghost of an old woman that lived there earlier in the century. I noticied that when Dave started talking about the house, his girlfriend at the time became rather nervous. I asked her if she had seen the ghost and she nodded her head. I asked her what she saw and she said that she was lying in bed with Dave one night after her had badly hurt his leg. She said that later on that night, something woke her up. She told me she sat up in bed and looked to the door, which was closed. She then said that the door opened by itself and a woman wearing an old dress stood in the doorway, looked at Dave, then looked at her, then disappeared.
I asked her if maybe it was Dave's mom checking up on him and that she might have been half asleep. Dave said that his mom wasn't at home that night. I figured that she was dreaming and dismissed the whole story. That was until another guy named Garrett said that he stayed over at Dave's house one weekend when Dave's parents were gone. Garrett said that around one in the morning he heard someone trying to twist the handle on the door of Dave's bedroom. Dave was staying in his parents bed with his girlfriend. He said that the doorknob twisted several times, and after it wouldn't open, the door itself began to bang, like someone was beating on it. He said he looked under the door to see if anyone was standing on the other side, but he said he didn't see anything.
I said that Dave was probably standing to the side of the door and
was beating on it to try and scare him. Garrett said that he thought the same
thing, so as soon as the punding stopped, he yanked the door open and lept out
planning on scaring Dave. When he went out, he said that there was no one near
the door (he drew me a map of the hallway, and by the looks of it there is no
way that anyone would have enough time to hide after Garrett opened the door).
Garrett now says that he won't stay in Dave's house anymore after that. This
is a guy that shaved his head bald on a whim because he wanted to look like Woody
Harrelson in Natural Born Killers, so timid he isn't. Dave's getting out of
school, and he and his new girlfriend are throwing a big party in the house. I'm
gonna take a camcorder I have and set it up in the hallway without Dave knowing
and see if I get a visitor in the night as well.
