Angry Spirit
From: Rob D. (keed50@yahoo.com) Story type: Ghost Location: A fire station in MAryland Source: Form Submission
I'm 48 as I write this (7/3/02) and this happened when I was 18 and a firefighter. I had been out late running around like most 18 year olds the night before. The next day in the fire station in the middle of the day I had fallen asleep on the couch in the T.V./poll table room. I woke up an hour or so later. The room was dark because it had no windows. But enough light was shining in through the doorway so I could see every- thing.
As I rolled over on my back with my hands locked behind my head there stood an old man standing at the foot of the couch glaring angrilly at me. I thought it was the Chief and wondered why he was mad. Then "he" spoke. In a disembodied voice he said "what the hell do you think you're doing?" I instantly knew this was no living human.
I was terrified. The hair stood up on the back of my neck. I wanted to run for the door but he was between the door and I. The hate in his eyes was terrible. I'm thinking I have two choices, lay there and cringe or stand up for myself. Layimg there and doing nothing just isn't me. So, I said back to him "what does it look like I'm doing? F**k you, I'll spit in your face.
I know now this isn't a good thing to do but I din't know any better back then and I was scared. I started to get up off the couch going towards him when I passed out. To this day I don't know if he caused me to pass out or I did it from fear. I don't know how long I was out but when I came too he was gone and I had a head ache. I think I hit my head on the arm of the couch when I fell back.
I never encountered him after that but other firefighters have.
One guy was ruffed up by something in his sleep there one night.
I remember this like it happened yesterday. Thanks for reading.
