This story takes place in Cedar Crest, New Mexico in about 1983.There is a house in c.c. next to the Bella Vista restaurant on a dirt road off of the main highway. I can't remember the name of the road. The house is two stories high but is actually 3 levels with an observation\greenhouse tower. The top level is the master bedroom and small study with a ladder that leads up to the tower. There is a door that leads to a wooden bridge that takes you to the small parking area on a small hill.

The second level is the living room with a giant window that looks on a small pond at the bottom of the hill with the parking area.

The bottom level is the kitchen and a small bedroom. There is a door in the kitchen that leads to the patio. My aunt and uncle lived here for about a year.

My uncle told me that from time to time he would have a dream that he was trying to chase a black hooded figure from the cars in the parking area. Every night very very late (3am or later) at night the pipes would bang and knock .At least that what my uncle would tell me. When I first heard the sound it sounded like somebody hitting the pipes with a hammer very loudly .Very steady but not too fast. It did not seem to me to be the pipes 'knocking' but that's my opinion. Other that this pipe knocking thing nothing really happened, but I could never really relax at night in that house. Just a general although fairly strong feeling of unease.

Well my aunt and uncle eventually moved out, and about two years after that I meet a guy at work by the name of Joe B.I knew Joe for about 8 months before he happened to mentioned where he lived. I recognized the house in cedar crest from his description. I asked if the banging still occurred what ever it might be. He said yes and that it gave him the royal heebie-jeebies mostly because he lived alone in the house.

Well one day Joe didn't show up for work, no big deal. But then it stretched into a week. Finally we at work found out that Joe had died, and that he actually died in his house, and that he died of a HEART ATTACK in his bed. Joe was only 34 when he passed away. I thought it was real strange that he would die of a HEART ATTACK at only 34 years of age in his bed. This news really freaked me out and gave me great grief because Joe was my good friend.

Personally I think that something in that house scared him to death, and it was able to do this because he lived there alone.

I have never been back to the house since hearing of Joe's death. But whenever I drive through c. c. I look up at the house and it's still there, and I'm sure the 'pipes' still knock in the middle of the night. Paul A.
