Haunted House

in 1973 my wife and i, along with our two sons ages 2 and 12, moved from new orleans to lafayette
we purchased a small brick home in an area near the airport in an area which built up in the late 40's into the 50's.
on our first day in the house the lady accross the street came over and introduced herself. she had lived in the same home since the early 50's.
before she left she said that if anything disappeared from the house not to worry that it would turn up. we asked what she meant and she said that the area nearby had at one time been an indian burial ground and that often people in the neighborhood would be paid a visit. in particular, the house we had bought was visited often.
of course we thought she was a kook!
we painted the entire inside of the house including a long hall that led to the small bath and three bedrooms.
everything went fine for about 3 months and then the hall walls began to sweat and the walls discolor and straeks run from the ceiling to the floor. the walls stayed wet regardless of what we did to keep them dry. we finally gave up and just accepted it.
periodically we would have a small item go missing only to turn up in an unlikely place. for instance a wrench that i was using to work on my car vanished when i set it down and appeared a day later in the bathroom cabinet. these things happened often enough that our friends would often joke with us about our ghost.
we would sometimes wake up at night to the baby talk of our two year old in his bed accross the hall from our room. when going to check on him we would find him sitting up having an animated conversation which would stop as soon as he saw us. he would then point to the wall and laugh and chatter a bit and then lay down and go right to sleep. this happened at least once month during the next year.
as he got a little older our son would refer to the friend that visited him as the indian man.
after a while, even though we had no really scary experiances, we started thinking about moving as it was a bit creepy living there.
the event that made up our minds about moving occurred during an evening out with a group of friends to shoot pool at a local bar.
my wife took a shot and the cue ball flew off of the table. no problem, it happens. however we could not locate the ball anywhere on the floor. the bar owner even turned up the lights and had everyone searching for a while. he got a bit upset when the ball didn't turn up and wouldn't give us another one. he even accused our party of taking the ball.
we left the bar and headed home. when we got to the house the boys were in bed and we sent the babysitter home.
the next morning when my wife emptied the dirty clothes hamper to wash clothes the cue ball fell out and rolled on the floor. my youngest son grabbed it and said" indian ball momma"
that did it - we found another place within a week, put the haunted house up for sale, we moved within accross town within a month.
we never communicated these stories with the buyers.
a while after we moved we ran into someone that had known the people that we bought the house from. they asked if we were told the ghost story before we moved in and of course we had not. even if we had been told we would have bought it because, until it happeened to us, we didn't believe in ghosts.
