Haunted River Banks

In a small town in southern West Virginia, many people are questioned about the strange happenings that occur on the river banks in that community. During a flood in 1977 there were many deaths and tragic events, but one sticks out like a cold spot in a steam room.

A young child was playing on the river banks in this small town. It began to rain. Soon it had rained so hard and fast that the water level was extremely high. The mother of this child noticed the rain and the water level rising. She went to retrieve her child. While looking, she noticed that the child had fell in the high waters due to one of the childs shoes stuck in the mud by the waters. The mother was frantic. She began to scream and shout her childs name, Helen. Blaming herself for the childs death, she plunged in the water and killed herself.

For the past twenty years, several fisherman and "cleanup crews" have been disturbed by a strange figure moving up and down the river banks of this small town. One man fishing noticed the figure moving towards him one night while hooking catfish. He claims that the figure walked up and down the banks as if it was looking for something. As it walked he heard a sound in the distance that sounded like someone was whispering the name Helen. A whole state road clean up crew heard something screaming the name Helen. (Most roads run beside the river) while they were pulling a night owl shift. Myself, I was fishing one night below my mom and dads house. As I sat there watching my line, I noticed a figure walking across the river on the other side. Suddenly the loudest scream echoed off the mountains...it was screaming the name Hell...en.
