In the Spring of 1979, I was married to my high school sweetheart. She told me of her aunt that had lived in Roswell, Georgia and that her son was shot out of the sky in World War II. My wife at the time had told me of countless stories of "Brother" visiting the old homeplace; including the proverbial rocking chair rocking in the living room to him actually sitting on the edge of the bed. There was no way I was going to "buy" this story and was invited to spend the night with her aunt.

It was a cool, early Spring night when I accepted the invitation to sleep in her over-the-garage apartment that was detached from her main house. It was a quaint little apartment and I settled in very easily.

On this particular night, I had gone to bed, not hearing any creaks, not seeing any "boogers", not seeing any ghosts. Like I have, all my life since, I am nearsighted. I placed my eyeglasses on the night stand next to the bed I slept. And soundly, I did sleep.

When I had awaken the next morning, I had reached over towards the night stand for my glasses and they were not there! Since I have poor vision, I felt around the night stand, even on the floor around the bed but to no avail. I then left the apartment to walk over to the aunts house so she could come back with me and be my "eyes" as I search for my eyewear.

She had made me a cup of coffee. We sat in the living room for a brief minute or two when I asked her to accompany me back to the apartment so she could help me find my glasses. At that point, she had asked me if the glasses on the fireplace mantel were mine. I looked and they were!

At some point in the night, "Brother" had taken my glasses out of the detached over-the-garage apartment and placed them ever so caringly on the fireplace mantel of the aunts main house. I have not been a skeptic ever since!
