Our "House Guest" (as we call it)

I am really not sure exactly what I am looking to accomplish by writing this, perhaps simply someone that might believe me, or some kind of answers.
If I may take a few minutes of your time, I will explain my situation.......
My wife and I bought a home here in Moore in November of 1998. It was not too long before I started hearing strange noises, but simply dismissed them. I have always been fascinated by the "supernatural" but being a logical sort of person, thought that there was always an explanation for everything. That was before moving here. The noises started happening more and more often. Sometimes it is months in between occurrences, then they will occur very frequently, then stop for a while again. (I will add that I have two sons living with my wife and I.
The 'occurrences' usually only happen when my sons are NOT home. I believe that if there is "something" here, it does not want to scare my kids) Anyway, we hear footsteps upstairs (while we are downstairs) when no one is up there. Sometimes it is like someone is pacing the upstairs hallway. I was once upstairs (that is where my computer is) and actually heard the footsteps come almost right up to where I was sitting then stop. I am constantly seeing movement in my peripheral vision and when I look over, nothing is there. Or I will feel a sudden chill, or a light brush across my hair, or smell a sweet smell, or a very strong sense of a "presence", sometimes feeling like someone is standing looking over my shoulder.......like I do RIGHT NOW as I am writing this letter to you. Once, I was writing to a IGHS member (and got NO reply, by the way....haha) and when I told her that I thought it only happened when the kids were not home so that it would not scare them, I felt a hand, very softly touch me in the middle of my back, as if reassuring me that I was correct. I broke into tears on that one! I have heard a female voice call my name from, what sounded like, downstairs, assuming it was my wife. When I went to the top of the stairs I saw that my bedroom door was shut. I went down and opened it and my wife was sound asleep. Our Dachshund will be playing and suddenly stop and stare nervously at a wall or up the stairs and begin to growl. I even saw an 'apparition' once. It was a very light bluish/greenish/gray mist in the door to my "Elvis" room upstairs where my computer is. I saw movement, looked over and there was the mist. It was slowly moving like smoke dancing in a gentle breeze, then after only a couple of seconds, it was swept away. I was frozen in place for about an hour afraid to leave the room. haha Then once I did, I went and jumped straight into bed. Lights that were turned off will be on when I come back upstairs, television sets will turn on by themselves, etc..... Once we were sitting downstairs and heard a loud noise upstairs. I went to investigate, and an Elvis lamp was laying in the floor in front of the table that it had been sitting on. No real big deal, right? The strange thing was that the little statue that was in front of it was still in place.....meaning that the lamp had to have gone OVER the statue before hitting the floor. Nobody was upstairs at the time.
Most of these, with the exception of some of the noises and footsteps upstairs, were only witnessed by me, so my wife was always a little skeptical when I would tell her about them. That is until this past Christmas. On Christmas morning, my kids were at their "natural" mothers house, I was preparing a turkey to fry and take to my parents house later that day. My wife was on one end of the kitchen and I on the other with the sink between us. The faucet suddenly turned on and water was rushing from the tap down the sink. I looked at my wife and she at me. After we both reassured the other that we did not touch it, I reached to turn it off and had to turn the knob 3 turns to turn it off. It had been turned on full blast with no assistance by either of us. Then a few days later, a TV guide flipped off of a table in the living room in my
wife's presence. She is still skeptical, but a little more apt to believe me when I tell her of things.
