Did I Die?

It began in early January 1999 with my developing pneumonia. Both my wife and I had been ill with this malady, however she had recovered and I had developed a secondary infection. My body weakened to the extent that I developed pulmonary failure and then ventricular fibrillation.

I had been taken to the hospital, and as my body had also begun to hold fluid, my lungs became even weaker and while trying to find a way to treat my fibrillation, my situation worsened. My wife asked the doctors if there was any hope of my survival, they told her there is always hope. However, they did not appear to be very encouraging. At some point in this treatment the doctors stopped my heart and started it again to bring it out of its' fibrillation.

Sometime during this period of treatment (very little of which I remember and have had it recounted to me by my wife) I found myself floating above my body and bathed in a warm pink and golden light. I felt very peaceful and had no pain. I simply assumed that I had died and was crossing over. But as I experienced this feeling, I "heard" a voice telling me I had to go back. That it was not my time. It was at this point that I began to improve.

My wife had given me over to God at about the same time, but she had also asked to allow me to stay. I believe I started the crossing over and returned for a definite purpose. It has changed my outlook on life and given me a new perspective on what is important and what is not important in life. Was this an OBE or a NDE?

I am not sure which it was. But I know that it happened.
