When I was 15 I was at a neighbors' house for a party. There were no drugs or liquor involved at all. I got very hot and dizzy because there were so many people all in one room and the heat was turned up kind of high. I started to go outside for some air and I passed out. At first all I saw was blackness. Then I saw a pinpoint of bright light very far away. The more I looked at it, the closer and bigger it got. In just a second or two I was pulled, for lack of a better word, into the light. It happened very quickly.
Suddenly I was in a place that was filled with a blinding light. I couldn't see anything with my eyes due to the intensity of the light. However, I could 'feel' what seemed to be millions of other beings with me. They were all extremely happy that I was there and welcomed me warmly. I had never before felt such intense joy. For the first time in my life I felt like I was where I was supposed to be.
As I started to move toward the others I heard someone call my name, very faintly, from behind me. I was irritated by this and didn't turn around. I kept hearing my name as I tried to move forward. Each time I heard my name it felt as if the voice was pulling me backward away from all this joy. I tried to fight it but I couldn't.
When I came to, my friends had pulled me outside into the snow to try to revive me. They told me that I had quit breathing and they had started mouth to mouth. Since that time it has happened twice. Each time it's the same, I hear the voice behind me and I fight to stay where I am. Each time I have stayed longer in that happy place. I have wondered if maybe the next time I will get to stay forever.
It has taken all the fear of death out of me. I know that the place I went to was what most people call heaven. I know that I will go there when I do finally die and it will be wonderful. Once when I was extremely depressed I thought of killing myself so that I could go back there. That same night I dreamt that someone made of light came to me and told me that if I committed suicide I would not be able to get to that light again. I am waiting for my turn to go back to the light and all the joy that is there. I am not afraid!
