NDE - The Light was Bright

The following is an account of my experience that occurred on May 10, 2000.
I had been admitted into the hospital on Sunday, May 7, 2000 with viral pneumonia (or so they say; they weren't quite sure what I had) and was not doing well. My pneumonia turned out to be a severe case and I knew things were not going well.
On Wednesday, May 10, 2000 I had a particularly rough day, I had thought I was getting better but somehow took a turn for the worse. All day and early that evening I struggled to get air into my lungs. Every breath was a huge effort and I concentrated every time I took a breath in. My mother and husband had spent the day with me and I was not well at all. Early evening came and I remember getting this overwhelming feeling that I would die and I could no longer struggle for air. The fight was over as far as I was concerned and I had a great feeling of panic. I had no idea what to do with myself. I couldnt sit, lay down, stand or anything. I just wanted to crawl out of my skin and die.
The nurses called the doctor and I was given alot of medication to help me to breathe better. I knew this was no use. I sat and talked to my husband about what I wanted him to do in case of my death. He didnt want to talk about it. I insisted and told him what my wishes were. My main concern was the kids I made him promise to me that he would continue to take care of them and love them for me. Then I knew that was all I could do.
I was given a sleeping pill to calm me down and help me to labor less. I knew that if I slept I would die. I just had this feeling of panic and finally decided there was nothing left to do. I would have to sleep and face death.
Once I fell asleep, I remember in my mind a vivid experience; one that I cannot explain. There were colors, blue and green and they were the brightest colors that I had ever seen. I walked through the colors almost like they were a field of bubbling colors and they were brilliant to look at. They bubbled over with life and seemed to be in constant motion. It was peaceful there and quiet.
Once I passed the colors, I came upon a lady whom I did not recognize. She was pretty and had long black hair. She had her back to me and looked at me from over her shoulder. Her hair was parted on one side and draped down the side of her face with a slight wave to one side. She consisted of a head and shoulders only. There was no body. She seemed to have a shawl on or something similar draped over her shoulders. She was very quiet and seemed to know the way that I should go so I followed her. There were no words spoken, just silent communication of some sort that all would be all right.
As I walked toward her the scene before me had changed. There were no more colors, only a bright mist all around me and a clear path up the middle of this bright, white mist. The woman floated ahead of me and I followed along the path.
As we came to the end of the path, I saw at the end my father standing and waiting patiently for me to come. The bright mist around me changed into a brilliant white light and the path had disappeared. My father was standing far off in the distance and he was very young looking. He was dressed in a uniform of some sort, which I thought was his service uniform from years past. His hair was dark and there were no physical signs of age about him at all. He seemed very happy and content to wait on me. There was no anxiousness about him or any feeling that something was wrong. It was quite peaceful.
As I approached him, the white light behind him changed into this incredible light that I could never have imagined. It was so bright and yet you could look at it and not hurt your eyes. It was like no other light I have ever seen. As I started toward this brighter light, I was suddenly filled with the sense that my journey was over and that I could approach no further. Almost at once I was sent backward through my dream in a complete reverse. Kinda like rewinding the whole dream in my mind, I went past my dad and then past the beautiful woman and through the field of colors. It happened quickly and without hesitation. I knew at that point that I would not die.
There was also another part to my dream that I did not recall for several days: I cant seem to figure out where in my dream it was, whether at the beginning of the dream, in the middle or at the end. I was led to the edge of a great, black, huge hole and I stood looking over the edge. I could only see the edge where I was standing; I could not see the bottom of this pit or the other outside edges. It seemed like it stretched on forever.
As I got closer to the edge, a force carried me over the top and I had great comfort knowing that I would not be allowed to fall into the hole. Something was protecting me and I felt complete confidence in the arms of whatever was carrying me over this pit.
