Out of Body Experience Inside a Dream
From: Story type: OBE Location: college dormitory Source: Form Submission
I am contributing this story because the people whom I shared my experience with have never heard of an out of body experience happening inside a dream.
In my sophmore year of college I had a most bizzare experience. Studying in my dorm room early in the morning, probably between 2-4 a.m., I began to tire. I decided to lay in my bed with the lights on for an hour or so to rest for my upcoming test.
I dont remember falling asleep, when suddenly my pencil holder on my desk, which was next to my bed, fell to the floor. With a fright I looked at my desk and saw a snake slithering off the side of the desk and falling in between the bed and desk. The snake's body looked to be about three feet long, and I can't remember what kind it was, only that it was extremely poisonous.
I picked the text book off my chest, rolled over and slammed the book down hoping to crush the snake. Fearful I rolled back to the middle of the bed. I looked down at my legs and my left calve was hanging slightly over the edge.
Afraid to move I kept real still when I felt two sharp pierces in my leg. The pain was incredible and very much real. Instantly I could feel the effects of the poison slowly climbing up my leg. It was a strange burning sensation. As the poison made its way, my leg became numb where the poison had past.
This continued until I could feel the poison make its way to the chest. My breathing became harder and harder and my body was numb from the waist down. I struggled gasping for breath when there was none to be found.
After some struggle a voice in my head told me to let go. I knew I was dying and I couldn't survive. I don't know what I did, but I released myself. My vision switched from an internal perception to external. I was floating away looking at myself lying in the bed. I do not remember seeing any lights or hearing any other voices.
After a few seconds of looking at my body, I remember moving forwards at an incredible speed and suddenly I sat straight up in my bed. Sweat covered my face and the pencil holder was on the ground. Needless to say I failed my test and told no one for a long time. I have always heard that if you see yourself die in a dream then you will die.
I don't know if that happened, or if my mind created this experience, but I can say that this dream/vision was very real. The pain and fear were so real that I still wonder how it could have been a dream.
I would like to know if this has happened to others.
