Six months earlier, a man had drowned in Snow's Cut after throwing himself off the bridge. I dreamed I was under water, and like a merman I could breathe. Something on the bottom caught my eye, the image of a man in a bathing suit and no shirt, the suit snagged on a stump. Swimming to the body, I released it from the stump and it floated to the surface. Later that day I saw on the news where the body of a man who had drowned six months earlier had been found flooding on the surface.
