We've been hammered daily with sp@mmers. *sigh* I do more post removal and banning than anything else.


What I don't get is why do they waste their time? Their flipping' posts never see the light of day, not to mention never get crawled by a search engine. Buncha asshats, if you ask me.

I can understand your reasons for moderating the first ten posts. It prevents spammers from getting a hold.

I joined an animal forum recently (with PR4!) and was horrified that it had been totally taken over by spammers: every section, every thread. Even a sticky by admin about "No spam or advertising" had been added to by several spammers!

Further, each site is free to set its own rules, and such rules vary quite a lot.

Thanks, LPC. Actually only the first 5 posts are modded now. Every day I clean out at least 30 posts from spammers.    They are damned annoying. They are also stupid. They think if they post more than 5 times, they will automatically have their posts show. The last laugh's on them - jackasses.


I've recently noticed a few common things about some of them. I may modify a few things to accommodate that so they won't even be able to create an account.


That's too bad about the animal forum. It takes daily diligence to keep up with things. And once a post gets through, it's open season. *sigh*
