Ghosts in my hallway?
« on: June 14, 2011, 11:30:00 am »
Hi there!
I'm in about of a situation. I've recently moved back to my childhood home with my parents etc.
When I was a child I had many occasions on which I thought I had seen my uncle (whom had recently died). I just thought it was my uncle, had a feeling. He was wearing a black hat and when they emptied his house, he had a black hat under his pillow (which as far as I'm aware of, nobody, not even me, knew about)

Now we're back and recently I've been hearing noises in the hallway.
It started about a week ago when I heard footsteps going up and down, and the floorboards creaking. Family members said it was just the house cooling down (which I thought) but they sounded like footsteps.
Then last night, I heard voices in the hallway. It was general chatter, like a party. Various background noise and a  few conversations at the same time. I was alone in the house at the time so know nobody was about. I rang my friend and she could hear it clearly as well.
So I know I wasn't imagining it.
I then went and looked/listened in the various rooms that have a radio or a telly. I couldn't find anything.
We live in an end terrace so only have neighbors on one side and they're not in for a few weeks so it was nothing from them.

I don't know anything about the previous owners (bar myself and when we moved it was still in the family and I know nothing happened, like someone dying)

I've heard that if you have a spirit in the house you can smell sulphur. I always thought it smelt like rotten eggs and before I went bed I got a quick whiff of it. I was in the kitchen at the time so this could have been a random drain smell.

I've given all the information I can think of.

You probably wont beable to help so if not, hope you enjoyed hearing about my house...

In all the thousands of stories I've catalogued for AX, I don't ever remember reading about a sulfur smell indicating spirit presence.   So that's definitely a new one! I have no idea about it.  :dunno:

trust me. You'll know the smell of sulfur when you smell it. I've been to Yellowstone National Park, and the sulfur smells like rotting eggs, putrid, awful. I've never experienced hearing voices, but have seen figures. Try to research the house and see if you can find out the history and/or deaths of previous owners.

I think the advice from Ghostseeker was very good. I myself have never heard of sulfur ordors pertaining to ghosts presence, but I have heard many times of a soft sweet floral fragrance.

Yes, some haunting are indicated with smells. some people will smell roast chicken! I, myself, find myself stopping dead in my tracks because I smell the scent of my old, over-sized German Shepherd, Jake, whom we had to put down. check out Ghost Dogs for more on that.
